Man Figure
Survives North Pole!

Toy
and games giant, Hasbro, has literally gone to extremes to
product test its latest Action Man figure.
New
'Polar Trapper Action Man' endured four weeks in the North
Pole to test the product's endurance to the harsh Arctic conditions
and experience temperatures as low as 40°C, the
likes of which recent explorers, Pen Hadow and David Hempleman-Adams,
battled so hard to survive.
And
in true Action Man style the Greatest Hero Of Them
All passed with flying colours.
Hasbro
believes this is the first time a toy has been put through
such extreme product-testing measures by a toy manufacturer
and is certain that when the product hits shelves in
September 2003, Polar Trapper Action Man will be the most
authentic and durable polar-style toy on the market.
Action
Man accompanied The Polar Team members, former Army Commando
Tony Martin and former jockey Thomas Richard Dunwoody MBE,
in the Polar Race 2003 to the magnetic North Pole, and proved
to be just the lucky mascot they needed to finish second place
in the race against seven other teams.
The
world's No 1 action hero plus new evil baddie 'Anti-Freeze'
- was tested to extremes as he traveled the 350mile distance
to the North Pole with the Polar Team. Starting at Resolute
Bay, in the former North West Territories of Canada, Action
Man experienced some of the most desolate and dangerous terrains
in the world even coming face-to-face with a pack of
polar bears as the team neared the summit.
The
extreme product testing of Polar Trapper Action Man forms
part of Hasbro's radical re-haul of the brand in 2003, entitled
'The Hunt For X', to feature the latest state-of-the-art toy
technology, gadgetry and endurance capabilities, the likes
of which have never been seen before on a toy figure.
